BOSTON METAPHYSICAL SOCIETY RELEASES FIRST NOVEL AT GASLIGHT EXPO
Steampunk Novel Explores Alternate History
BURBANK, CA. Madeleine Holly-Rosing, writer/creator of the steampunk comic Boston Metaphysical Society announced the release of the first novel set in this alternate-history universe at Gaslight Expo in San Diego, CA on October 6, A Storm of Secrets. “It was time to expand the universe beyond the comic, short stories, and novellas,” Ms. Holly-Rosing commented. “And fans have clamored for more detail about not only the world, but the main characters as well as the supporting ones.”
A prequel to the original graphic novel series, Boston Metaphysical Society: The Complete Series, the novel is set in a steampunk alternate-history in late 1800’s Boston. The story begins when Samuel Hunter, an ex-Pinkerton detective, returns home to Boston after a honeymoon in Europe with his wife Elizabeth who is the heir to one of the Great Houses of Boston. Their domestic bliss is interrupted when Elizabeth’s psychic abilities return. Unfortunately, this turn of events is a political liability for her father who is dealing with industrial espionage and a potential demonic threat. “Gaslight Expo has been a great supporter of my work over the years, so it made since to launch it there,” Ms. Holly-Rosing said. “Plus, it was so special to hand over those first copies to longtime fans.”
This novel is the first in a series though Ms. Holly-Rosing plans on starting a new series soon that focuses on the House Wars, her version of the American Civil War. “I can’t wait to start,” Me. Holly-Rosing remarked. “Now, I just have to carve out the time.”
