Welcome – Steampunk Hands Around the World 2015

HANDS2015-white

Welcome to the second year of Steampunk Hands Around the World!

Last year, we saw the breadth and depth of what our global community has to offer, and from that arose not only new friendships and connections, but also new collaborations for projects which we’ll read about this month.

This year, our month long event celebrates the theme of Steampunk: Our Playground, Our Classroom, Our Workshop, and several dozen creators will share their perspective and examples of how steampunks from around the world have fun, learn, and create.

We’re going to see how fellow steampunks come together for tea and tea dueling, history that was and the historical future that should have been, and the building and creating of the props and artwork we love so much.

Our community has so much to offer and it would be a shame if each of us limited our individual exposure and experience to our local area or region instead of enjoying the wide variety of expressions and creativity from every corner and every country possible.

For the next four weeks, you and your friends are cordially invited to a trip around the world, hosted by writers, artists, musicians, and more, to see the wonders from your fellow steampunks. A translation service, such as Google, will be one of the best tools in your travel bag. Language will not be a barrier in communication among us.

Hands_2015_XPK2As with last year, you are greatly encouraged to reach out to other steampunks this month to say “hello”, or “thank you”, or even “How did you …” We can make the greatest connections with the smallest of gestures and inquiries.

Start, and follow, the official journey around the world with the Official Link List, updated daily.

Join in the fun and post your favorite story or item to share in the comments below. If you are a creator of any kind, share a non-sales link to a picture of your work — art, music, fashion, literature, etc – that you have created yourself.
